Do you want an easy way to calculate the costs of printing? Simply export the job log in VersaWorks. This powerful feature contains the figures you need to manage your business. The printer’s entire print history is given, along with the size of each job and the volume of ink consumed per job. This helps accurately track your expenses, ensuring that you price jobs competitively and with the bottom line in mind. You can find the job log under “View Menu” in VersaWorks.
Using a Roland DG product the Italian Way
What is it about the Italians that makes them so cool? The romantic language? The fast cars? The creamy gelato? The Italians certainly have a way.. they seem to draw attention without even trying. What makes them so different? Certainly their style. But I also think they are especially creative and have an exceptional commitment to quality. Earlier this year, my Roland DG colleagues in Italy contributed to my theory about Italians.
One Machine or Two? The Print & Cut Dilemma
In show business, a triple threat is someone who can sing, dance, and act. At Roland, we’ve mastered the three disciplines of printing, cutting, and printing and cutting together. Like many Hollywood triple threats, we have found that one aspect of our talents has often overshadowed the others. In our case, we have become very well known for integrated print/cut devices. We offer a wide variety of sizes and configurations, and have been the leaders in the segment since we introduced the first integrated machines over 18 years ago.
Custom Roland DG VP-540 printed automobile tire insert POS signs
We rarely have dull days around the sign shop, and yesterday we received a request for a long time satisfied customer at the local Chevrolet dealership. He needed to advertise four sizes of tires, with a “Good”, “Better”, and “Best” option. These tires would be on display in the service drive area of the dealership. I was presented with the necessary copy and was told to “get busy-we need these before closing time today”. Ok, deadlines can be met….so back to work I go!
Something Newsworthy for Everyone
How do you keep your customers and prospects informed about your business? Do you use blogs, email blasts or newsletters? If you’d like to keep abreast of newsworthy events here at Roland DGA, there are three opportunities you should know about.
ISA 2011: New booth, new products & a great show!
ISA (International Sign Association) is always a big show for us and this year was no different. Pre-show numbers coming out of the association showed registration significantly up from previous years, with more exhibitors and booth space. We took more space ourselves with a 40x60ft booth and a whole new booth structure that looked fantastic thanks to our awesome marketing department. In addition, we had three exciting new products to talk about: the VersaUV LEJ-640, Roland DG's first roll-to-roll hybrid flatbed; the LEF-12 UV small flatbed, and our new 20" print/cut device called VersaStudio.
Less Taxing Times Ahead
As everyone would agree, this time of year can be especially taxing (pun intended). This year, however, we have the added worries of war in the mid-east and leaking radiation in Japan. Meanwhile, governments everywhere are wrestling with how to pay for their growing debt.
ABC: Always Be Closing
Glengarry Glen Ross, the 1992 movie, featured an all-star cast: Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey and Jonathan Pryce. During a memorable scene, Alec Balwin says the famous phrase:
“ABC. Always Be Closing.”
Stickers-on-the-Go… Everybody’s Doing It
Stickers. Decals. Lettering. It’s not something that an average person ponders on a regular basis, but if we had a means, I bet we’d all use custom stickers quite regularly. This thought occurred to me as I was looking through our list of owners for the STIKA portable vinyl cutters. What an assortment of small businesses, large businesses, schools and just regular people. The STIKA is being used for custom decals, t-shirt deco, personalized gifts, bakeries, realty signage and so much more.
You Printed What?
Wide-format inkjet printers are now producing some amazing things with fabric. You have probably seen many examples of sublimation, like these sublimated jerseys produced on a Roland DG FP-740. I especially enjoy the printed fabric wings on the replica of an 1895 Lillienthal glider that hangs in our lobby and were printed on a Roland DG AJ-1000.
