Creating a Special Space to Experience Japanese Culture with Three-dimensional Wallpaper
The Embassy of Japan in Lithuania | Lithuania
The Embassy of Japan in Lithuania wanted to redecorate a lecture room wall to create a Japanese atmosphere with designs that would introduce visitors to a Japanese tea ceremony and calligraphy.
Before
- Before the renovation, the painted wall was an ordinary, blank, and flat.
After
- A stylized image of a traditional Japanese garden, Karesansui, was used for the design. Although a sense of seasonality is important in Japanese culture, the room must be used year-round. The design enables visitors to enjoy a Japanese atmosphere every time they visit. It also brings depth and light to the room, giving a three-dimensional feel and tactile effect. All of these features offer visitors an unforgettable sensory experience. During kimono lectures, children in yukata often enjoy using this wall as the background for taking photos to remember their visit.
