Irvine, Calif., March 27, 2025 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers, printer/cutters, vinyl cutters, and other advanced digital imaging devices, has announced the addition of the new VersaSTUDIO BF-16 UV flatbed printer to its lineup of compact, easy-to-use, and affordable desktop devices available to customers throughout Latin America. Using specially formulated inks that cure instantly under a UV-LED lamp, the BF-16 is capable of direct-printing vibrant, detailed graphics onto a variety of objects, including phone cases, art canvases, cosmetic items, and more, on-demand.
While its small footprint allows for easy placement in print environments with limited space, such as home offices and retail shops, the BF-16 supports a print area up to A3 size (420 mm x 297 mm) and 90 mm in height. It also uses the same high-definition printheads and UV inks as Roland DG’s wide-format printers, making it ideal for customizing many different types of products with eye-catching designs and text. Plus, the BF-16’s versatility allows users to print directly on a range of materials, from soft fabrics and leather to rigid substrates like wood and plastics.
In addition to printing vivid full-color graphics with its CMYK and White inks, the BF-16 makes it easy to incorporate unique textures, simulated 3D embossing, and other eye-catching special effects into prints using Gloss ink. The BF-16 is also designed to provide outstanding productivity. Capable of simultaneous two-layer printing of White and CMYK inks as well as three-layer printing of White, CMYK, and Gloss, this compact, powerful machine is capable of achieving print speeds of up to 2.08 square meters per hour in CMYK standard mode, enabling it to customize approximately 180 phone cases per hour.*
Considering its outstanding print quality and high productivity, the BF-16 is surprisingly affordable. Roland DG has managed to keep the price low by adopting a simplified design that focuses on user-friendly functions. The printer’s low ink prices and efficient ink delivery system also contribute the BF-16’s cost-effectiveness, allowing users to maximize profitability by achieving high image quality with less ink.
The BF-16 comes bundled with newly released VersaWorks® 7 software – Roland DG’s most powerful, user-friendly RIP to date. VersaWorks 7 is packed with state-of-the-art features and tools that help improve print quality, streamline workflow. In addition to making this latest version more intuitive than ever, Roland DG has incorporated advancements that facilitate on-demand printing and timely, flexible production. VersaWorks 7 allows for precise, high-speed processing of PF, EPS, and PS files and auto-generates White, Gloss, and Primer layers with the touch of a button. In addition to its Windows OS compatibility, VersaWorks 7 is now available for macOS, increasing convenience and usability for more customers.
BF-16 users can also take advantage of cloud-based services like the newly enhanced Roland DG Connect, which provides print professionals with the tools they need to create, optimize, and grow – all in one easily accessible, simple-to-use platform. Roland DG Connect puts a treasure trove of innovative features, and resources at the user’s fingertips, including a Device Dashboard that helps keep any Roland DG device operating at peak performance, remote monitoring capabilities, easy access to important business data and operational intelligence, an e-commerce marketplace where users can buy and sell products for print production, media inventory tracking and management, real-time chat support, and much more.
“The BF-16 is the perfect device for anyone launching a start-up or side business – and for existing operations that want to expand their services or offerings,” said Roland DGA’s UV Printer Product Manager, Philip Chu. “With its impressive capabilities, unsurpassed ease of use, and exceptional value, it offers big product customization and personalization capabilities in a small package.”
