Roland DG’s TrueVIS VG2 Series large-format printer/cutters win a prestigious 2021 Sign Media Canada Readers’ Choice Award. Among more than 40 nominated products, the TrueVIS VG2 Series, the industry’s best selling wide-format inkjet printer, was chosen by readers as the winner in the “Digital Printing” category.

2020
Roland DG expands its family of next-generation flatbed UV printers with the launch of the LEF2-300D. This innovative inkjet features an expanded workspace that supports a height of up to 7.87 inches (200 mm) – twice that of standard LEF models – enabling users to customize and personalize an even broader range of objects.
The Introduction of the VF2-640 – the first “print-only” model in Roland DG’s TrueVIS series – offers image quality, color control and vibrancy on another level. Its expanded gamut, including new Green and Orange TR2 inks, a new True Color 2 preset, and other advanced features make producing stunning, color-accurate output easier than ever.
The launch of the DGSHAPE LD-300 laser decorator, a larger, more robust version of its predecessor – the LD-80 – expands foil decoration versatility and productivity. With its larger workspace, the LD-300 makes it easy to enhance larger three-dimensional items with metallic and holographic foils, while also allowing users to imprint directly onto natural leather.
To further increase the capabilities of the DWX-42W wet dental mill, DGSHAPE introduces the AK-1 Abutment Kit. This kit provides added value and opportunity for clinicians and dental laboratories of all sizes, enabling DWX-42W users to offer full-service, high-quality implant restorations in-house with precision and ease.
Roland introduces the VW-S1 densitometer, making color matching easier and more effective. Designed to complement other innovative color-matching features within Roland DG’s VersaWorks 6.8 RIP and print management software, this compact, affordable device allows the user to make adjustments and share color accuracy between two like printers using the same ink type.
Following the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic in early 2020, Roland DGA introduces new Social Distancing Signage Solutions. Built around Roland DG’s TrueVIS VG2-540 printer/cutter, these customizable packages include the materials, hardware, software, and free design templates print providers need to produce health and safety graphics in-house easily and cost-effectively.
2019
TrueVIS VG2 series printer/cutters with TR2 inks are introduced to great fanfare, taking home top honors in major industry awards, including the ISA Innovation Award, SGIA Product of the Year Award, EDP Award, and BLI Pick Awards.
Roland DG’s first ever high-volume UV flatbed printer, the IU-1000F, is unveiled at PRINTING UNITED, where Roland DG exhibits 10 new products in total. As Roland DG’s largest and most expensive device ever, the IU-1000F delivers a new class of Roland DG product.
Following the success of the VG2 series, Roland DG launches its entry level line of second-generation TrueVIS printer/cutters, the SG2 series. The SG2 makes TrueVIS color, quality and performance available at an even more attractive price.
Continuing on 25 years of engraving technology, Roland DG offers its first ever laser engravers, the LV-180 and LV-290. The LV series utilizes non-contact CO2 laser technology to enable engraving and cutting complex shapes on a variety of materials, quickly and smoothly.
Roland DG redesigns its UV printer/cutter technology, with the new VersaUV LEC2-300. The streamlined LEC2 includes the popular features of the original LEC, plus a more compact design, increased versatility and greater image quality–all for less than half the price.
Roland DGA is named the National Association of Dental Labs’ “Supplier of the Year,” in recognition for its contributions to the dental lab industry. Roland DG’s dental milling machines, industry education and social responsibility are cited as determining factors.
2018
TrueVIS VG printer/cutters are awarded top honors from Buyers Lab International, the world’s leading independent provider of testing and analysis for document imaging. The VG is the only device awarded in its categories, recognized for Image Quality, Usability and Speed.
DGSHAPE by Roland DG releases two new dental mills, the DWX-52DCi and DWX-52D, including DWINDEX performance monitoring software, all designed to meet increased demand for lab-friendly milling automation and management tools.
A new wet dental mill, the DGSHAPE DWX-42W, is released – adding a 6-station Automatic Tool Changer, ethernet connectivity, a new spindle and improved efficiency to Roland DG’s already popular wet milling device capabilities.
Roland DGA is named a Top Workplace for the Eighth time by the Orange County Register, based on anonymous employee surveys which evaluate key elements that contribute to overall employee satisfaction and company performance.
Roland DGA receives two SGIA 2018 Product of the Year awards, for the VersaUV LEC-540 printer/cutter, and ECO-UV ink. The LEC-540 received top honors in the “Roll-to-Roll UV Printer” category, while ECO-UV ink won in the “Digital Inks – UV” category.

Roland DG releases the new large format CAMM-1 GR cutter series. Built for a whole new level of graphics production, GR cutters are designed to handle a wide range of materials and offer faster cutting with increased down force.
Roland DG develops a ready-to-teach education solution that combines step-by-step Project Based Learning (PBL) tutorials with Roland DG software and machines to create a more effective digital fabrication experience for students and educators.
Since 2010, Roland DG has been at the forefront of advanced dental milling technology. Roland DG announces its new DGSHAPE by Roland DG dental brand to support the next generation of advanced digital restoration solutions.
DGSHAPE by Roland DG introduces its first automatic disc-changing mill. The DWX-52DC is designed to automatically mill dental restoration jobs with unattended confidence, offering automated production day-and-night to expand lab production and profit.
DGSHAPE by Roland DG continues to innovate with the introduction of its first dental 3D printer with Quick Denta 3D software. At the touch-of-a-button, users can print custom trays, base plates, frameworks and other dental prosthetics.
2016
Roland DG has a colorful year with the release of the TrueVIS series of large format inkjet printer/cutters. With advanced new FlexFireTM print heads and TrueVIS INK, the powerful VG series and cost-effective SG series of TrueVIS printer/cutters offer unparalleled color quality that brings prints to life.
The release of the MODELA MDX-50 marks a milestone for benchtop CNC milling. With automated milling features, it provides unmatched ease-of-use and enables users of all abilities to mill functional parts with incredible quality on a wide range of materials. It represents the ideal solution for short-run prototyping and educational applications.
Roland DG introduces new and improved photo impact printing with the METAZA MPX-95. A low-cost solution for adding photos or precision data onto giftware, tools or surgical equipment, it features a removable base for imprinting onto large items — turning valuable items like golf clubs into even more unique and pro table products.
The release of the VersaUV LEF-300 flatbed printer offers users the opportunity to create their own image factory and put product customization into overdrive. With a 30” print width, four print heads and two UV-LED lamps, the LEF-300 enables faster printing onto larger items in higher quantities.
Under new president, Andrew Oransky, Roland DGA once again is named as one of Orange County’s “Top Workplaces” by the OC Register. This marks the seventh time that that Orange County’s largest newspaper recognized Roland DGA for its leadership, diversity, social responsibility, and other qualities.
Roland DGA opened a state-of-the-art facility in Wilmington, Massachusetts. In addition to serving as an East Coast training and product demonstration headquarters, the new Imagination Center features a Roland DG Creative Center gallery showcasing a wide variety of products made by Roland DG customers.
2015
Roland DG added to its innovative dye-sublimation printing technology with the introduction of the Texart XT-640. Featuring dual-print heads to increase production speed and 7-droplet technology to maximize color quality, the XT-640 was built to produce high-volume apparel, soft signage, and promotional merchandise.
The SOLJET EJ-640 Large Format Color Printer represents the first of Roland DG’s next-generation of printers. Developed for busy, high-volume shops that are looking for quality output at high speeds, it features dual staggered print heads and new Roland DG EJ INK system with running costs of up to 35% less than competitive devices.
Roland DG has continued to spearhead dental milling innovation with the release of two new machines. Roland DG’s first wet dental mill, the DWX-4W was created for precise and uncomplicated wet-milling of glass ceramics and composite resins. In addition, Roland DG released the DWX-51D dry-milling machine for the quick and effortless milling of zirconia and other materials.
Roland DG redefined “cutting-edge” with the release of the CAMM-1 GS-24, Roland DG’s most advanced desktop cutter ever.
