We recently visited DG DIMENSE, a Lithuanian joint venture with Roland DG established in October 2023. (Click here for details of the founding ceremony.)
This company offers a unique digital printing solution, DIMENSE, featuring three-dimensional embossing, or texture printing, for interior design printing applications. We explored their headquarters where they produce their unique products, and visited their gallery where the latest technology can be experienced firsthand.
Unique product development and manufacturing
DG DIMENSE’s headquarters is located about 7.5 miles from the center of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The site features two buildings: an office and a factory where approximately 50 employees work in research and development, sales and marketing, production, and design. From here, DG DIMENSE’s unique DIMENSE digital printing solution is distributed globally.
The office’s conference rooms and workspaces are decorated with wallpapers, art pieces, and building materials that utilize DIMENSE technology. These spaces feature works that combine color printing with embossing, use embossing in concrete molds, apply fabrics to embossed surfaces to create unique textures, and include glitter applied through digital printing. These designs demonstrate textures and effects that were previously difficult to achieve with conventional techniques.
DIMENSE’s digital printing solution creates a three-dimensional effect
DG DIMENSE excels in chemical technology, developing and manufacturing environmentally friendly, PVC-free wallpaper materials and specialized inks. We toured the factory within DG DIMENSE’s headquarters where these products, inks, and various wallpaper materials are produced.
The DIMENSE solution uses special media that foams when heated. The Dimensor S inkjet printer is equipped with both structural ink (clear) and water-based ink (CMYK). After printing on the material, the printer’s on-board heater applies heat, causing the areas without structural ink to foam, thereby allowing for the simultaneous creation of textured designs and color printing.
The DIMENSE solution has been showcased at exhibitions worldwide, garnering significant attention. The technology expands the possibilities of digital printing, enabling designs that can be enjoyed both visually and tactilely through embossing effects. It is being used in various ways for interior design printing, including for the production of wallpapers, interior decoration, posters, and art.
Experience cutting-edge technology and design in the gallery
DG DIMENSE offers a wide range of wallpaper designs utilizing their interior design printing technology. Their gallery in central Vilnius is located in a boutique-lined area, providing new interior design ideas to trend-conscious visitors. In the gallery, visitors can see and touch wallpapers featuring unique embossing, experiencing their texture and color firsthand. Digital printing allows for unique designs not bound by traditional repetitive patterns, and examples of these bold designs are also on display.
The gallery regularly hosts workshops and events with designers and creators. Information is also shared through the website.
Expanding DIMENSE solutions worldwide
This visit reaffirmed the unique technology and potential of DIMENSE. Recently, the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania adopted DIMENSE for its wall decorations. Additionally, in 2024 DG DIMENSE opened a gallery in Miami, Florida, actively expanding its presence outside of Lithuania. DG DIMENSE will continue to advance into new markets and drive technological innovation, leveraging the extensive global network of Roland DG Group to provide solutions for customers around the world.
