VersaCAMM VS Series Wide-Format Printer/Cutters Features
Choose Your Passion: Speed. Innovation. Performance.
For maximum versatility, the VS series of wide-format printers are available in four ink configurations.
Over 29 Years of Wide Format Printing Innovation
The VersaCAMM VS printer/cutter line combines 20 years of innovation and expertise into one device, including integrated printing and contour cutting capabilities, next generation print head technology and accelerated print speeds. Available in three sizes and ink configurations, the VS series is also capable of printing white text, floods and hundreds of brilliant metallic colors for premium graphics and wraps. Affordably priced, the VersaCAMM VS digital printing equipment is both an exceptional value and a uniquely versatile production tool.
Metallic Silver Effects
A remarkable innovation in advanced inkjet technology, the VS Series is available with an optional metallic and white ink configuration that allows users to add value and sophistication to virtually any graphic. Recognized as DPI Product of the Year, Metallic Silver Eco-SOL MAX® ink can be printed as a spot color or combined with CMYK to produce over 500 striking metallic and pearlescent colors.
Automated Ink Circulation System
Unlike other digital printing equipment, the VS series of wide-format printers come standard with Roland’s automated Ink Circulation System to prevent the pigments in metallic silver and white inks from settling. Designed to reduce waste of white and metallic silver ink, the circulation system dramatically lowers running costs while ensuring exceptional image quality throughout the longest production runs.
Two Print Modes for Metallic Effects
Choose from Blended and Layered print modes to optimize metallic images. Blended mode prints CMYKLcLm and metallic silver ink together for more natural metallic colors, while Layered mode prints metallic silver first, followed by CMYKLcLm in one pass to add richness to metallic effects.
VersaWorks™ RIP Software
Developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters, VersaWorks RIP software takes full advantage of the VS series’ capabilities. Based on the latest Adobe® CPSI 3019 engine, VersaWorks includes advanced error diffusion and 16-bit rendering for exceptional production output and unmatched ease of use, and is fully compatible with Windows® 7, Vista and XP.
VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system, which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 standard colors and 512 metallic colors. A spot color replacement feature is included as well, allowing you to automatically replace a spot color with any option from within Roland Color without reopening the file in graphics editing software. VersaWorks also features a built-in PANTONE® library which automatically converts specific PANTONE spot colors in your design file to a CMYK value.
Preset print options include a High-Speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics, and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics. This advanced RIP also automatically estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic so you can accurately monitor time and costs. VersaWorks also offers Variable Data Printing, embedded ICC profile support, software proofing capabilities, ink level adjustment tools and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options.
New Optional X-Rite Color Management Tools
For precise color management, Roland now offers X-Rite's i1Basic Pro 2 for calibrating your monitor to display accurate digital color as well as, linearizing your Roland printer for consistent output. Upgrade to the X-Rite i1Publish Pro 2, which includes the same capabilities, as well as complete ICC/ICM media profiling. The VersaCAMM VS streamlines the production process by automatically contour cutting printed graphics and eliminates the need to reload and reposition graphics, saving you valuable time and resources.
For laminated graphics, our Quadralign four-point optical registration system allows users to remove prints, laminate and simply reload them for precision cutting. Quadralign automatically realigns the cutting path and compensates for skew and distortion. The VS also functions as a stand-alone vinyl cutter.
Eco-SOL MAX Ink
Eco-SOL MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology, offering fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, rugged scratch resistance, low-cost per square foot, and broad coated and uncoated media support. Virtually odorless, Eco-SOL MAX offers CMYK+Lc+Lm+Mt+W ink available in 440 mL and 220 mL cartridges (metallic silver and white 220 mL only). Eco-SOL MAX is water and UV-resistant up to three years outdoors* for CMYK graphics, up to one year outdoors for white ink, and one to three years outdoors for metallic silver ink.
* Outdoor durability is based on accelerated weather tests. Results may vary depending upon location and application. Dry times vary depending on specific media characteristics. Lamination may be required for some applications or environmental conditions.
Roland Intelligent Pass Control Technology®
This system precisely controls dot placement between passes, allowing the VersaCAMM VS series to produce smooth gradations and flawless solid colors, while achieving faster throughput with virtually no banding in all print modes. This technology increases productivity by delivering the same print quality at higher speeds.
Advanced Eight-Channel Print Head Technology
The VS series incorporates the latest in variable droplet inkjet printing technology. The new eight-channel Piezo inkjet print head contains 180 nozzles per channel in a gold-plated housing to reduce static and prevent clogging. With seven different droplet sizes available, the VS series achieves remarkably smooth gradations and richer density for photographic and high-resolution vector output. A new head protection plate and recessed print head prevent head strikes from rippling media.
With print speeds of up to 248.6 sq. ft. per hour for CMYK applications (VS-640) and print/cut capability, the VersaCAMM VS further expedites the production cycle by allowing you to print and contour cut your designs together – even unattended – in one easy step.
A true production printer, VS digital printing technology features an advanced media handling system allowing users to feed rolls up to 88 pounds for the VS-640, 66 pounds for the 540 and 55 pounds for the 300. Upgraded media flanges and seven pinch rollers secure the heaviest media in place, providing accurate feeding and tracking throughout the longest of production runs. Adjustable print heads enable you to accommodate variable media thicknesses.
Integrated Heating System
Roland printers are designed to dry prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. VS series wide format printers feature a built-in, two-stage integrated heater system that accommodates a wide range of media options. This advanced system precisely controls the proper amount of heat for each application, yielding outstanding results every time. For maximum convenience, users can store individual settings right in the printer.
High-Speed Network Connection
Equipped with Roland’s own 100 Base-TX/10 Base-T interface, VS series connects seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 Mb/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly efficient printing environment.
Eco-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland Eco-SOL MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-backed vinyls and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper. All Roland media is carefully tested and profiled to consistently achieve high-quality results.
The World's Most Intelligent Printers
Among the many benefits of owning a Roland inkjet is its ability to share information with you so you can print with confidence, even when you're not there. A Predictive Ink Calculator lets you see whether you'll have enough ink to run the print jobs you've posted to the queue. Roland OnSupport then sends and email to your computer or smart phone notifying you when a job is completed, or ink is running low.
A patent-pending wiper system is included to decrease wear and tear on the print head and prolong its life by reducing ink buildup. The VS series includes a combination of standard wipers and additional side wipers that reduce the maintenance issues caused by ink reservoirs and dust, resulting in fewer manual cleanings.
Integrated Heating System and Optional Benes Dryer
Roland printers are designed to dry prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. VS series wide-format printers feature a built-in, two-stage integrated heater system that accommodates a wide range of media. This advanced system delivers the proper amount of heat for each application, yielding outstanding results every time. For added convenience, users can store individual settings right in the printer. To ensure the highest image quality when printing with white and metallic silver inks, Roland also offers the Benes dryer system as an option for the VersaCAMM VS, which is required for the dual white ink configuration.
