Roland Intelligent Pass Control

Roland Intelligent Pass Control technology developed by Roland software engineers represents the pinnacle of inkjet printing.  This patent-pending system precisely controls dot placement between passes and delivers unprecedented imaging performance in all resolutions. The technology actually enhances image quality at higher print speeds thereby increasing productivity.  As a result, the SP-i series produces smooth gradations and flawless solid colors while achieving faster throughput with virtually no banding in all print modes.

Eco-Sol MAX Ink

Eco-Sol MAX is a remarkable innovation in ink technology. Building on Roland’s award-winning eco-solvent ink, Eco-Sol MAX offers fast drying time, high density, wide color gamut, scratch resistance, low cost per square foot, and broad uncoated media support. In addition, Eco-Sol MAX is virtually odorless and does not require any special ventilation or environmental equipment. Eco-Sol MAX graphics are water, scratch and UV resistant up to 3 years outdoors*.

VersaWorks RIP Software

VersaWorks RIP software has been developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers and printer/cutters. This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP ensures exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and incorporates the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine.

VersaWorks supports the Roland Color system which accurately reproduces more than 1,000 spot colors from color charts and swatch books. A spot color replacement feature is included as well, allowing you to automatically replace a spot color with any option from within Roland Color without reopening the file in graphics editing software. VersaWorks also features a built-in PANTONE® library which automatically converts specific PANTONE spot colors in your design file to a CMYK value.

With VersaWorks, users can choose from print options including a High-Speed mode for production banner printing, the MAX Impact preset for vivid outdoor graphics and Artistic mode for exceptional indoor graphics. In addition, VersaWorks features Variable Data Printing and supports up to four Roland devices simultaneously including printers, printer/cutters and cutters. It automatically estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic so you can accurately monitor time and costs.

VersaWorks features include embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, software proofing capabilities, error diffusion for outstanding print quality and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options. Support for Roland cutters allows you to pair a Roland cutter with any wide-format or desktop printer for print/cut applications. The PerfCut function produces precision perforated cut lines. VersaWorks is fully compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000.

New Optional X-Rite Color Management Tools

For precise color management, Roland now offers X-Rite's i1Basic Pro 2 for calibrating your monitor to display accurate digital color as well as, linearizing your Roland printer for consistent output. Upgrade to the X-Rite i1Publish Pro 2, which includes the same capabilities, as well as complete ICC/ICM media profiling. Both packages include the new i1 Pro 2 spectrophotometer, Pantone® Color Manager software and an accessories package. The i1Publish Pro 2 also includes i1Profiler software.

Integrated Heater System

The SP-300i and SP-540i include an integrated two-stage heater system which dries prints quickly even in High-Speed mode for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. The system features two components: a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. Heater settings are either user adjustable at the control panel or set within the VersaWorks media settings.

Heavy-Duty Media Handling

Roland-designed media flanges provide more robust media handling capabilities when printing on heavier rolls. This development prevents skewing and ensures stable media feeding through long print runs. The SP-300i handles rolls weighing up to 44 lbs. and the SP-540i accepts up to 66 lbs. and 8.3” in diameter.

Eco-SOL™ Media

Eco-SOL Media is developed especially for Roland Eco-Sol MAX ink and includes a wide selection of competitively priced, uncoated adhesive-back vinyls and other popular substrates. The line-up currently consists of glossy, matte, clear and translucent calendered, premium cast vinyl, premium reflective vinyl, view-through vinyl, flame retardant scrim banner, blockout scrim banner and solvent glossy paper.

Outstanding Print Quality

The SP-i series produces outstanding photorealistic graphics regardless of viewing distance. The printer precisely controls droplet placement in both the print head travel and media feed directions to provide up to 1440x720 dpi resolution. Built to Roland standards for precision imaging, the SP-i series features digital servomotors to micro-position the media. Variable droplet technology uses three droplet sizes to allow the right amount of ink to be deposited on the media at precisely the right time and in exactly the right place. This state-of-the-art implementation of Piezo print head technology delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth, band-free accurate color on a wide range of media – even at the highest print speeds.

High-Speed Production Printing

The VersaCAMM SP-i series powered by Roland Intelligent Pass Control achieves faster printing for greater productivity. On banner media, the SP-540i achieves 84 sqft./hr. in High-Speed mode and 52 sqft./hr. in Standard mode. The SP-540i and SP-300i are up to 50% faster in Standard mode than the previous models with the addition of Roland Intelligent Pass Control.

Eco-Sol MAX Running Costs

Eco-Sol MAX boosts the performance of Roland inkjets at low running costs that both you and your customers will appreciate.

For a low-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.16 per sqft. and an average media cost of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.46 per sqft. For a high-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $.28 per sqft. and an average media cost* of $.30 per sqft. for a total of $.58 per sqft.

Automated Maintenance System

The SP-300i and SP-540i feature an automated maintenance system that saves valuable ink and time resulting in lower running costs. The system also ensures consistent image quality and trouble-free operation for busy production environments. During normal operation the printer can wipe and clean the print heads at regular intervals to prevent clogging from dust and other debris. If the unit is idle for a period of time, the printer can also perform an automated routine to maintain the print heads in top condition. In addition, a new maintenance cover ensures easy access to print heads for manual cleanings.

Connectivity

The VersaCAMM SP-i series is equipped with a 100 BASE-TX/10 interface enabling seamless connectivity to office networks.

Professional Take-up System Option

To facilitate precision unattended printing, the VersaCAMM SP-i series supports an optional automated media feed and take-up system. This system includes a convenient front-mounted take-up roller and an advanced tension-controlled take-up unit for optimum media feed and tracking. The TU2-30 and TU2-54 are priced at $2,094.75 each.

Optional TAKK Anti-Static Solutions

Available for Roland’s 54”, 64” and 74” large format printers, easy-to-install TAKK anti-static systems greatly reduce static build-up in order to preserve vivid color imaging. Purchase online or through your authorized dealer.
